Information we collect
Family applications collect a guardian’s name, contact details, home address, delivery needs, and consent choices. They also collect each child’s name, birthdate, age, gender, wishlist, and temporary identity documents. Sponsorship, contact, and email update forms collect only the details needed for those services.
Why we collect it
We use personal information to verify eligibility and identity, administer registrations, prevent duplicate participation, coordinate gifts, respond to messages, and send requested program communications. Storms Miracle Tree does not sell personal information or use family information for advertising.
Verification documents
Verification files travel through an encrypted HTTPS connection and are stored outside the public website. Access is limited to authenticated administrators. Files are deleted when an administrator marks verification complete, or automatically after 30 days. Files are never attached to email.
Health cards are not accepted. Do not upload, email, or otherwise send an Ontario health card or health card number.
Public wishlist information
Sponsors see an anonymous child ID, age, gender, and wishlist. Names, birthdates, documents, addresses, schools, and family contact details do not appear on public wishlists.
Service providers and protection
The website relies on secured hosting, database storage, email delivery, and bot protection services to operate. Administrative access requires a password and multi-factor authentication. Access attempts are rate limited and recorded for security review.
Retention and deletion
Verification documents follow the 30-day deletion schedule above. Registration records remain only as long as needed to administer the program, resolve issues, and meet reasonable record-keeping needs. You may request access, correction, or deletion, subject to records still required for program integrity or legal obligations.
Consent and questions
Submitting a form provides consent for the stated program purpose. Optional email updates require separate consent and include an unsubscribe option. Contact stormsmiracletree@gmail.com with a privacy question or request.
